Nigerian Ministry of Education Overseas Scholarships for PhD, Undergraduate, and Masters Nigerian Students

This scholarship is offered under the Bilateral Educational Agreement (BEA) Award.

Courses offered: Many; Course Level: Postgraduate, Undergraduate; Country to Study in: Many countries; Provider:Federal Scholarship Board (FSB)


 The BEA Awards are scholarship awards made to qualified Nigerian youths by development partners who have entered into Bilateral Educational agreement with Nigeria. Nigeria also offers similar awards to citizens of the following Bilateral Education Agreement countries: China, Romania, and Cuba.

Qualified Nigerians are hereby invited to participate in the 2015/2016 Nomination Interview for the BEA Scholarship Award tenable in  Mexico, Egypt, Tunisia, Russia, China, Morocco, Turkey, Japan, Ukraine, Cuba, Greece, Algeria, Romania, Serbia, Czech Republic, Syria, Macedonia, etc.

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate Scholarship

 Possess a minimum qualification of Five Distinctions in the NECO or WAEC (May/June) only in the subjects relating to their field of study including English and Mathematics.
 Certificates should not be more than Two (2) years old.
 Should be more than 18yrs but less than 22yrs.


  • Postgraduate Scholarship

 A First Degree with at least
2nd Class Upper Division.Applicants who have received Foreign Awards before must have completed at least Two years employment practice or post qualification in Nigeria. Must have completed NYSC. Know how to speak Russia if you want to study in Russia. 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D in terms of age limit.

Note: Knowledge of the language of the country of choice is an added advantage.

The donor countries do not speak English. Applicants should therefore be prepared to undertake mandatory one year foreign language of the country of choice which will be the medium of instructions. And For postgraduate applicants for Russian award, the candidate must have obtained his/her first degree Russia.

Open to International students? NO! Citizens of Nigeria ONLY.

The Participating Institutions are all accredited institutions of higher learning in the participating
countries that have Bilateral Educational Agreements (BEA) with Nigeria.

The countries participating are:

  •    Undergraduate: Russia, Cuba, Morocco, Turkey, Egypt, Japan, Serbia, Macedonia, Algeria, Romania, Ukraine, and Hungary.
  • Postgraduate: Russia, China, Turkey, South Korea Japan, Serbia, Mexico, Hungary, etc.


The Fields of Study:

Undergraduate level: Mathematics, Languages, Environmental     Sciences, Sports, Medicine, Paramedical, Engineering, Geology, Agriculture, Sciences, , Law, Social Sciences, etc
Postgraduate level: All fields

Note: Awardees study the language of the country in their first Year and this constitutes the language of instruction throughout their study.

Duration of Scholarship: The duration of the scholarship offer ranges from 4 - 9 years depending
on the level of study and the country.


Benefits:
The participating countries are responsible for the school fees and
accommodation, while the federal government takes care of:

  N100,000 – Take off for post graduate scholars
  N60,000 – Take off for Undergraduate scholars
  $1000 for PG research grant yearly 
  $500 monthly for supplementation
  $500 yearly for medical scholars only
  $250 yearly for warm clothing
  $200 yearly for Health Insurance



Application procedure:
To apply for the federal government scholarship, qualified
candidates are advised to:

  Visit Federal Scholarship Board’s website here
  Click on Application Center
  Click on BEA Award Application in the Application Center
  Register/Log in
  Read Requirements & Instructions
  Continue to complete the online form and submit
  Print completed Application Form and Acknowledgement Slip and bring
    two copies to the venue of the interview  (venues are on the official website).

Venue of Interview: All eligible applicants are to report for interview as scheduled for their respective states of origin with two sets of completed application forms which should be submitted at the various interview centres with the following attachments:

  •  Two authenticated photocopies of Educational Certificates and Testimonial of previous school attended in two envelopes.
  •  Data page of current International Passport.
  • Academic transcripts and NYSC certificate will be required from applicants for postgraduate studies.
  •  Only one Certificate will be accepted ie WAEC or NECO.
  •  Two copies of Birth Certificate from national population commission ONLY!
  •   State of Origin Certificate duly signed, stamped and dated. 
  • Four passport sized colour photographs on white background.

NB: Original documents should be presented at the interview venues for sighting and the Interview Venues and Dates can be found on the official website.

DEADLINE:
The  BEA scholarship for 2015/2016closes on March 8th, 2015.

P.S: Candidates finally selected by the awarding BEA countries will be required to submit to the Federal scholarship Board the following: authenticated copies of academic certificates, specified medical reports and police clearance certificate.
